During the meeting with Miracle, the princess kept trying all she could to be more friendly with him, engaging him in friendly conversations. She agreed to attend his father’s function and seized the opportunity to also invite him for the Queen’s birthday party the following day. She promised Miracle she would make him comfortable at the party and also give him special treatment. Miracle, with the excitement of meeting Grace at the party agreed to attend the Queen’s party without delay.
The following day, in an elegantly decorated hall in the middle of the palace, royalties kept moving in and out in theirregalias. Servants were performing their different duties, ensuring the orderliness of things in the hall. Few minutes to the program, Grace, together with the other attendants accompanied Princess Judith into the hall. Grace, as though seeing one of the wonders of the world, kept staring in amazement all over the hall that she almost tripped. The orderliness of things and the pattern with which the servants were performing their duties attracted her.
After they ushered the princess to her seat, Tony, a minister’s son whom princess Judith had a long term unrequited love for came in with his bodyguard. Tony, a bright-looking young man who with his smile melts the hearts of many, came into the hall and sat at the back of the hall. Humbly turning down the request of the servants to relocate to the front seats. The program soon started with solemn songs which they adopted from the city.
The hall soon became filled with royalties. Miracle entered with his stylish regalia and haircut. The hall was full as he found his way to a corner of the hall, looking across the hall with the hope of spotting Grace. In the middle of the program, Tony, sitting at the back of the hall spotted Grace who was in front standing beside the princess. As soon as it was time for dining and wining, the princess, still nursing bitterness in her heart against Grace ordered her to remain where she was as she went ahead to dine with the King and Queen.
Tony walked up to Grace. “Hello” he said and Grace turned to him. “Hello” Grace replied in her tiny voice. Tony seemed to like the voice he just heard as he wanted more conversations with Grace. Grace, however, unknown to her the feelings the princess had for Tony for a long time was enjoying Tony’s company. They both kept laughing as they were discussing.Princess Judith, as she was returning from the King and the Queen, was looking across the hall in search of Miracle as shewas shocked to see Tony whom she had not seen for quite some time. However, seeing him talking and most especially laughing with Grace, jealousy and hatred engulfed her.
Moving closer to them, she turned to Tony and blocking off Grace who had to move away “Tony” she said. Tony who was trying not to lose sight of Grace whom the princess had blocked off answered her as though he was not paying full attention “Your Highness…its..err..its been a long time”rubbing his forehead with his left hand. The princess then ordered Grace to go for two glasses of wine. As Grace left for d princess’s errand, the princess continued her chat with Tony.
Grace, approaching with the two glasses of wine which the princess had ordered her to get, was walking with cautiousness that she might not spill the wine. As soon as she moved closer to Tony and Grace, the princess, pretending as if she wanted to help her with the glasses of wine, intentionally spilled the wine all over her.
